This short film of building a straw rick at Warnford will have been shot (I believe) soon after the end of the second world war. If the conveyor carrying the sheaves of straw to the top of the rick speaks of the mechanisation to come, the horse-drawn cart harks back to an earlier time. I am not sure that smoking with so much tinder-dry straw about would be encouraged nowadays!
